Personal Representation
Who am i?
I like to keep up to date with what is going on in the world, I like to take care in my appearence as in this day and age people often judge you by what they see from a first glance. The pressure to try and look good has massively increased in recent years and the appearence of men is now being scrutinised just as much as women. I like to just wear casual clothes on a day to day basis, wearing something that doesnt stand out too much and catch too much attention. With shows such as The Only Way Is Essex i feel that Essex boys are being given this stereotype, with low key celebrities such as Joey Essex we often seen teenage boys replicating what he wears. Personally this does not massively appeal to me and I try to stay away from this stereotypical representation of an Essex boy. I like to incorporate different styles that I see rather than try to replicate a specific individual.
We are in a time where much of the world is based around the media, many people spend a large majority of time on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. I am quite a reserved person in terms of what I say and put on social networking sites, I ensure that photos that are on my Facebook profile arent stupid and going to give me a negative representation to people, I also have family as friends on Facebook, meaning that what is put on my profile is appropriate to share with them. I personally do spend quite allot of time on social networking sites, and with the development of such sites as Twitter it often becomes the place where you hear about things first. The first I heard of Amy Winehous's death was on Twitter, compare this to ten years ago and this would have been news I would have heard first on a programme such as BBC News or ITV, showing just how popular social networking has become. I feel that it is important to get away and try and not spend all my my time on the Xbox, laptop or watching TV, especially with todays body image worries that many people have it means that I enjoy going to the gym in my spare time. I have a massive passion for fitness and I am always looking at nutritional advice and gym programmes through the use of the internet. My passion for sport has led to me wanting a career in the fitness industry, the idea of having a positive impact on someone elses life as well as being able to keep fit myself massively appeals to me and when having a passion for something it therefore makes your job more enjoyable.
Teenagers get a very bad sterotype in today press. The media often forget that not every child is the same, they tend to highlight a minority of people instead of looking at the positive impact that a large amount of teenagers have. An example is Tom Daley, he first competed in the Beijing Olympics at the age of just 14, this was then followed up by a bronze medal in the London 2012 games all after coping with the death of his Dad a year prior to his achievement.
The media does have a massive influence on my life, such as fashion and the news, but I personally want to stay away from the sterotypical teenager who goes out every night and gets drunk with his mates whilst causing havoc to other people.
